LSO ARE: Whether to Expand Price tag, Wholesale, or perhaps Mail Buy
After a profitable year following a repossession of Prince Edward Island Maintain Co. Ltd. (P. Elizabeth. I. Preserves), I have assessed a number of problems that need to be addressed in order to continue being profitable and come up with a possible product-market technique. The corporation in general lacks an obvious strategy and includes a volume of operations unrelated to their key focus of making and retailing preserves. As a result of wide range of functions, you will be being overworked and not all segments could be properly attended to. Also, the seasonal characteristics of manufacturing maintains and retailing in visitor season triggers for troubles in financial situation and career.
The alternatives pertaining to review are definitely the following: grow retail, expand wholesale, grow mail buy, hire a sales rep, increase up and down integration coming from all operations, extend product lines and rent out our factory. I recommend you hire a sales agent to take on from suppliers operations, that you drop mail order operations, and that you commit the majority of your time and efforts towards selling, while increasing the straight integration of the remaining sectors. You should also try to rent our factory out during off-season and maximize production capacity in-season. I are confident that implementing these types of changes can cause the P. E. I actually Preserves to see continued earnings and expansion. TO: Generic MacNaughton, CEO, Prince Edward Island Preserve Co. Limited. FROM: Courtney Datema, Consultant

RE: If to Expand Retail, Inexpensive, or Email Order
Prince Edward Island Protect Co. Limited. (P. Elizabeth. I. Preserves) has recently knowledgeable some difficult times after going into receivership in 2007. Since your repo of the business, however , money year 08 has experienced a small earnings due to a focussed turn-around. The company is currently divided into several different segments; eating places, retail, from suppliers, mail order, and a garden. The highest sales and income can be attributed to the successful full portion of operations. I will be evaluating whether you should expand the retail, from suppliers, or snail mail order sectors of the business and recommending a viable product-market strategy.
Before deciding which segment of the organization to increase, I have discussed a number of problems to be dealt with when making this kind of decision. I discovered that the corporation lacks an obvious strategy which is committed to a wide range of operations, several unrelated towards the main activity of producing and marketing maintains. As action of this issue, I as well believe you, Bruce MacNaughton have overextended yourself trying to singlehandedly manage all of the operations. Lastly, the organization is certainly not currently organised to successfully deal with the seasonality in the business.
Lack of Clear Strategy
G. E. I. Preserves includes a broad range of operations within its firm. While I applaud your motivation to take dangers with different shops for broadening the company, there is a lack of vertical integration through all areas of the corporation. While using main operations revolving around manufacturing and retail of specialty food products, it is difficult to determine where eating places and gardens fit into the business. With a number of failures of specific retail outlets and restaurants as well as a great unsuccessful purchase of an unrelated business, I see we have a lack of obvious strategy. If you are doing a great job promoting L. E. My spouse and i. as " Canada's Garden Province” and the " tiny jewel that was in every person's heart” through these person operations, there is not enough dexterity among them all.
