I decided to go with the sociologist Erving Goffman's theory of how in most social scenarios, we are all just like actors and actresses playing a role, known as impression managing. He searched for to describe and explain the aspects of connection in a regularly sociological matter. He referred to as his analysis, or his field, " interaction order”. (Smith 1999). Erving Goffman used emblematic interactionism in his studies, his theory is the fact we all take action differently in several settings. A person has the ability to chose the person that they would like to present to selected social groups. A person can become an acting professional or celebrity, yet can also be their own " audience” as well. Goffman referrers the ability while using " front-stage ” and " back-stage” tendencies as we generate identities to slip into sociable groups, and sometimes present several identities in each cultural or group setting. Impression management can be used as an attempt to influence perceptions of oneself in front of large audiences. I believe that sort of symbolism goes hand in hand with Edward cullen T. Hall's theory of everyone using proxemics in sociable interactions. Mentioned previously in Introduction to Sociology, folks are more comfortable having family and friends actually close when interacting in social settings. (Vissings 2011).

There are 3 setting in which a person uses this impression behavior in. The main environment that a person will use this type of impression managing is in the job life. A person will present an image to those that they assist, that they probably, and more likely, do not present with their family and close friends. An individual can use this type of behavior to create an image of oneself to the people that they job around. If you want to get to a management placement, a person who is without history of a leadership skill, can simulate a director they work with, and can employ what is called impression building.
